So today, I am reviewing the poetry book collection, Shadows of Life by Dr. Nazreen. This collection of poetry was given to us in exchange for an honest review.

If you are a fan of love poetry or poems of the heart, you will definitely love this collection! This entire book follows Nazreen's love life and the wave of change that comes with it and brings you on an emotional journey from falling to love to heart break.

So since this is a poetry collection, my reviewing system is going to be a bit different from the standard reviews we write. Instead I'm going to review based on the flow, use of poetic devices, and context to give me a total of 5 stars. I would give this collection a total of 3.5/5 stars. Here is how I got my review!

Flow: 0.5/1 stars. I really enjoyed some of the poems in this collection, but there were times when the theme of that section did not flow well together. I thought that moving from one poem to the next was choppy and the thoughts seemed disconnected. While it made sense for some of the poems, that choppiness took away from the feeling the previous poem gave me when I moved to the next one.

Poetic Devices: 1/2 stars. Many of the poems used the same structure and devices. There were smilies, analogies, hyperboles, but not much else. The structure of the poems also tended to be the same and was the standard rhyming couplets. I would have like to see more variety and change as the poem progressed.

Context: 2/2 stars. The context of each poem was clear and concise on what Nazreen wanted the readers to know and feel. The point of this collection was also very clear. Now even though I am not a fan of love stories or poetry, I think this collection does a great job showing Nazreen's heart and feelings throughout this love story and brings any romantic to their knees.
