Top 5 Struggles of Bookstagraming

Bookstagramming. There are thousands of accounts of pure book bliss. Some are fantastic, with excellent quality photos and witty captions. Others are newer and need work finding their niche. Regardless, every bookstagram is a great bookstagram! Everyone should give it a shot, but with bookstagramming comes struggles - here are our top 5 struggles of bookstagramming!

1. Finding Time

This seems to be the biggest struggle across the board. Finding time to actually set up, take photos, upload them, edit them. Essentially time to bookstagram! It can be very time consuming, sometimes taking hours to take several quality photos. And even if you take the time to take hundreds of photos, you'll probably won't use 90% of them!

2. Finding Motivation

You wake up. You see your lighting kit and bookshelf and think "I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF". So you either take a photo of the same book you've taken for the past month, or stare at your shelves for thirty minutes in hope that they will speak to you. They won't. You're screwed. Good luck.

3. Finding Light

If you do not have a lighting kit, getting the right light is the WORST THING EVER! The sunlight will not be bright enough. It's a cloudy/rainy day. Your house doesn't let light in well. WHATEVER. It's so difficult to take a photo in crappy light. Thank goodness for lighting kits! <3

4. What to Say

Okay, so you get a photo taken. You like it. The lighting is good. You've edited it to perfection. It's finally coming together! And then you can't think of anything to write for the caption. (OMG WHYYYY!?!?) UGH! Captions are so difficult sometimes! Do we talk about ourselves/our life? Do we make a joke? Do we quote the book? WHAT TO DO!? It's pretty difficult sometimes to think about what to say and what questions to ask.

5. Hashtags

Okay! You've finished EVERYTHING ... except hashtags. UHHHHH WHYYYY!? Hashtags are not only used for fun but to get your photo out there in the Instagram world! They also take FOREVER to type out! If you can't think of tags to do, it's really frustrating. I have saved all of my most used hashtags and just simply copy and paste. Saves a bunch of time!
