Today we will be reviewing Black Moon and let us start by saying WOW! Lady Midnight first read Zodiac this past summer after a lot of persuasion from Wandering Star and fell in love.

So because we LOVE this series we really want to go in depth with this review so we will be writing two - a spoiler-free review and a spoiler filled review.

THIS ONE IS SPOILER FREE!

WARNING!!!

This is spoiler free for anyone who has read Zodiac and Wandering Star but has yet to pick up Black Moon. If you have not read the first two books, there may be some spoilers!

Lets start this out with a synopsis of the story.

Rhoma Grace has lost everything. She has lost her home, the Zodiac's trust, and all forms of love in her life; however, she is more determined than ever to find the Master and save everyone in the Zodiac (even if they conspired against her).

When Nishi brings news of a new political party that supports unity, Rho decides it is time to try a new approach. She journeys across the Zodiac to Aquarius, drawn in by the party's ideals. She has an alterior motive though: she has reason to believe her mother is a riser who became an Aquarian. What she finds will change everything.

We love Russel's writing and the plot of this book so much. Zodiac and Wandering Star left us on the edge of our seats but Black Moon threw us against the wall! Overall, we give this book a 5/5 star review!

So here is how we got our rating:

We give reviews based on five separate categories: plot, characters, description, pace, and extras. Each point earns a total of 1 star - which is what gives our five star rating.

Plot: 1/1 stars. The plot of Zodiac and Wandering Star were spot on and Black Moon is no different! The beginning felt a little bit slow but Russel quickly throws us into the trenches and straps us in for the emotional roller coaster that is the middle to end of Black Moon. The pick up doesn't let up - in fact it sets us up for a crazy ride in Thirteen Rising as well. But did you expect anything less from Russel?

Characters: 1/1 stars. The characters Russel brings to us are the same people we have come to love (and hate). Even if we sometimes want to smack them! The addition of new characters in Black Moon really throw the plot forward, sideways, and upside down. And Russel is always amazing at hiding characters real personalities - good and bad.

Description: 1/1 stars. Russel is the description QUEEN! Wherever you go, whatever you see, feel, and expect, Russel is there to bring it to life. Her descriptions are clear, concise, and always extraordinary! We've never been disappointed in the world(s) Russel brings to life for us.

Pace: 1/1 stars. While the beginning did feel a bit slow to us, the second Russel picks up the pace, it's like we're going into HYPER-DRIVE. The action, the plot, nothing lets up until the very last second. It's a crazy ride!

Extras: 1/1 stars. We absolutely love the complexity of the Zodiac universe - this book deserves the Extras star for all the history, stories, cultures, and personalities the Zodiac universe has to offer! We're excited and sad for the end of this universe in August, but at least we can always go back to it, right!?

All in all we're total Zodiac JUNKIES. We love the world, the characters, plot, and Russel's writing! If you've read Zodiac, Wandering Star, none or all, please take the chance and pick Zodiac up. You will NOT be disappointed!
