Hello Lovelies! Today I will be reviewing Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake!

THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER FREE!

So the book is about three queens, Katherine - a poisoner, Mirabella - an elemental, and Arsinoe - a naturalist. These triplet queens must prepare themselves and learn their skills for one day they must battle each other to the death, because only one of them may be Queen.

Now when I first started reading it I wasn't sucked in as I thought I would be. The book is done in a manner that it is an enjoyable read but not one that makes you feel like your world is ending. Don't get me wrong, Blake includes suspense, an emotional roller coaster, and amazing plot twists that I wish I could unread (LOL). All in all I really enjoyed the book and I'm really excited for Book 2!!

Overall I would give this book a 4.1/5 stars.

So here is how I got my rating:

I give reviews based on five separate categories: plot, characters, description, pace, and extras. Each point earns a total of 1 star - which is what gives my five star rating.

Plot: 0.9/1 stars. The plot is really creative and unique! I actually really enjoyed it. I'm taking 0.1 points off solely on a certain plot point I didn't like. I know, it's petty - deal with it!

Characters: 0.8/1 stars. Most of the characters are very enjoyable to read and are well developed. Theres not much I didn't like - except I felt Katherine wasn't developed enough being a main character, and we seemed to hear more from her sister's perspectives than hers. It felt off balanced and she seemed underdeveloped to me.

Description: 0.9/1 stars. Blake gives the reader everything they need. But she does a lot of "telling" and not a lot of "showing" in this novel. This is not necessarily a BAD thing, but it may be irritating for some readers. I didn't mind it though, so I think 0.9 is fitting.

Pace: 1/1 stars. The pacing was perfect. Not too fast, not too slow. It was a very easy and enjoyable read!

Extras: 0.5/1 stars. The premise of the book and the events that occur definitely gives it extra points from me, but it wasn't enough to completely wow me.

Overall the book was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
