Today I will be talking about Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - a book I didn't know whether to love or hate (Hate in a good way).

So this book is about six members of a gang sent on an impossible mission to break a man out of jail and bring him home safely. Why? Because he has knowledge for a weapon many people want to get their hands on. Are they successful? I don't know - you'll have to read and find out! We have Kaz, Inej, Nina, Matthias, Jesper, and Wylan. All have their reasons to be a part of this gang, all trying to escape, and all think that this mission will help them leave.

Now lots of my friends ADORE Kaz! Me? I'm a Matthias girl personally. I loved the plot, the characters, and the rich history each culture had. It was very refreshing!

Goodreads gives this book a 4.45/5 stars. I gave this book a 4.5/5 stars!

This review is SPOILER FREE!!!!!!!!

So here is how I got my rating:

I give reviews based on five separate categories: plot, characters, description, pace, and extras. Each point earns a total of 1 star - which is what gives my five star rating.

Plot: 1/1 stars. The plot was creative, enticing, and got me aching for more. The 462 page book was propelling me forward every page and never failed to get my heart racing, my stomach dropping, and my mind reeling. The plot

also talks about topics that may make people uncomfortable, but need to be said. It's done in a very subtle but effective way throughout the book. A way anyone can appreciate and understand from.

Characters: 0.75/1 stars. I loved the characters! Almost all of them. Kaz was my only character issue and not because he was poorly written - I just don't really like him. I had no issues with any other character though (excluding the bad guys). Inej and Nina were perfect examples of strong, feminine women. Jesper was witty and enjoyable. Wylan rose above expectations and gave Jesper good things to joke about. And Matthias - my love - stubborn but lovable. His devotion and love for his culture made me appreciate the world Bardugo creates before our eyes.

Description: 1/1 stars. You are never left guessing what a person or place looks like. The vivid descriptions allowed me to live in the world rather than solely visualize it. I got a clear picture and every detail was helpful and beautifully written - even when the descriptions were not beautiful themselves.

Pace: 0.75/1 stars. For the most part the pacing was well done or good, but there were a few moments when I felt the book drag. It got to a point where some chapters felt like my eyes were being held back by boulders but then the next chapter would picked up the pace. It fluctuated very occasionally (rarely) but - for the most part - I was never bored and ready to read more.

Extras: 1/1 stars. The fantastical world, filled with people that posses different types of powers is always a book I love and am willing to read! With other ideas and concepts Bardugo discusses that I will not talk about to prevent spoilers, it brings this book to a new level I can appreciate. Magical and talks about controversial topics. A+!

Overall I LOVED the book. It was captivating, fun, and heart pounding. I'm excited to begin the sequel Crooked Kingdom!
